Why a Discord mockup looks different from a chat mockup

Discord does not draw speech bubbles. A channel is a flat vertical list: a round avatar, a username in the member colour, and the message text underneath, all on the dark background. That is why this tool renders a feed rather than the left-and-right bubbles you get from a WhatsApp or Telegram mockup, and why the result reads as Discord at a glance.

The input format is still one message per line. Starting a line with a greater-than sign marks it as yours, which switches the username and avatar colour. Everything else renders as the other member. Blank lines are ignored.

How the image is produced

The image is drawn on an HTML canvas rather than screenshotted from the page. Text is measured and wrapped to the available column width, the avatar circle is drawn per message, and the canvas grows to fit the exchange. It renders at twice the display resolution, so the PNG stays crisp in a slide, a README, or a meme.

Everything happens in the browser tab. The message text is never sent anywhere, the rendering is local, and the download comes out of memory. No account, no upload, no storage.

Tips

Getting a better result out of Discord Message Generator

Specific settings and thresholds, not general advice.

  • Write the exchange somewhere else first, then paste it in. Editing message order inside a single text area gets awkward past a dozen lines.
  • Keep messages short. Discord messages are usually one or two lines, and long paragraphs stop looking like a real channel.
  • Use obviously fictional names in anything leaving your team, and label the image as a mockup where the context is not clear.
  • Do not reproduce a real person username, avatar, or handle in a fabricated exchange. That is where a harmless mockup becomes a problem.
  • For documenting your own server, a real screenshot with the other members consent is both easier and more honest.
Limits

What Discord Message Generator does not do

The honest boundary, so you do not lose time finding it yourself.

  • It renders avatar, username, and message text only: no timestamps, roles, reactions, replies, embeds, attachments, or channel header.
  • Usernames and avatar colours are fixed, with two members and no custom names.
  • The whole exchange is written in one text area with a greater-than prefix as the only formatting control.
  • It produces an illustration rather than a convincing screenshot, and passing a mockup off as a real exchange can be defamation or fraud.

Is the Discord Message Generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many images you render.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The messages stay in the browser tab, the image is drawn locally on a canvas, and the PNG is created from memory. Nothing is transmitted.

Does it use the Discord dark theme?

Yes. Messages render on the dark channel background with coloured usernames and round avatars, which is what makes a Discord screenshot recognisable.

Can I set the usernames?

Not yet. The mockup uses two generic member names, one for your side and one for the other. Keeping names generic is also the safer default for anything you publish.
